Miss Rodeo Plainville, Kasandra Huser, draws inspiration from her parents sharing the values they instilled in her with youth of all ages. A high school senior, Kasandra is a member of Victoria’s Lady Knights basketball, tennis and dance teams. She loves being part of a team and the camaraderie of sports. This is how she came to love rodeo, for the excitement and sheer appreciation of each contestants’ skill.
In addition to sports, Kasandra serves as the president of Students Against Destructive Decisions, secretary for both the Student Council and the National Honor Society. She is a member of the Varsity Club and FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America). Outside the classroom she is the president of the Victoria Vikings 4-H Club, an Ellis County Jr. Horse Leader and member of the American Paint Horse Association, the American Quarter Horse Association and the American Simmental Association.
A constant volunteer, Kasandra coaches five- to six-year-old T-Ball and helps with instructional basketball. She encourages youth to get involved, reminding them “don’t play for the game, play for the point.” She believes that if you take things one step at a time you eventually reach your goal and ultimately your dreams. Barrel racing puts this in perspective for Kasandra. Although it looks fast and easy, a winning run is all about hard work, practice and precision.
Kasandra is the daughter of Kevin and Kathy Huser of Victoria. Kevin Huser Construction, Victoria Lumber Co., Rick’s Food Store, Orscheln and House of Cakes sponsored Kasandra’s run for the crown. Besides sports, Kasandra enjoys livestock shows, horse shows, reading and listening to music. Her future goals are to attend medical school at the University of Kansas to become an anesthesiologist as well as continue her involvement with 4-H and other youth activities.
