Katie Wasinger loves the family-like atmosphere of rodeo and she wants everyone to experience it. As Jr. Miss Rodeo Plainville she thoroughly enjoys the honor of promoting the fun and exciting sport of rodeo to others. Katie agrees with Zachary Scott who said, “follow what you love it will take you where you want to go.”

Following what she loves, Katie hopes one day to become Miss Rodeo America so she can continue to make a difference as a role model to young women and travel across the country. Katie encourages all young girls to go for their dreams and set their goals high.

A member of the Big Creek Astros 4-H Club and the Kennedy Middle School Track Team, she also played the clarinet in the Kennedy Middle School Band and was named to the KMEA Honor Band. She looks forward to FFA, cheerleading and continuing in band as she advances in her education at Hays High School. Katie enjoys horse shows and is a member of the American Junior Paint Horse Association and the American Quarter Horse Youth Association.

Katie is the daughter of Rob and Joanne Wasinger. Rob’s Heating and Air sponsored Katie’s quest for Jr. Miss Rodeo Plainville. Katie’s hobbies include spending time with her horses, barrel racing, listening to music, reading and writing mystery, adventure and horse stories. In addition to her goal to become Miss Rodeo America, Katie wants to have a career working with animals with plans to become a veterinarian or horse trainer. As she strives towards her dreams Katie keeps her faith close citing Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”
