KFQHRA Recommends Natural, not Fads! Consider the following do's and don'ts:

Do's
:
  • Do have your horse clean, curried and brushed.
  • Do have hooves clean and trimmed.
  • Do have mane, forelock & tail brushed, tail natural between fetlock and hock, mane natural.
  • Do wear regular western wear, hat & boots, that does not distract from your horse or his working ability.
  • Do remember that you are showing your horse, not yourself or your bankroll!

Don'ts:

  • Don't clip out ears - the hair in the ears helps keep out insects, dirt, snow, wind and rain.
  • Don't body clip - natural body hair tells the story about your horse. Body clipping is phoney conditioning.
  • Don't braid manes or tail - leave natural.
  • Don't stain hooves or hair with any materials.
  • Don't ever use drugs, bleed or alter tails.
  • Don't touch your horse with hands or feet while being judged in conformation class.
  • Don't use silver or glitter on your horse or yourself - it distracts from your horse.
